Auto Signature - How do I set up an Automatic Signature?

You can set an Automatic Signature for all the email addresses you have set up with your BlackBerry Internet Service. Your Automatic Signature appears at the end of email messages that you send from your BlackBerry device.

  1. Login to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site at www.o2email.co.uk and click Edit on the email address for which you want to set an Auto Signature
  2. In the Signature field type your signature
  3. Click Save.


 

Contacts - How do I copy numbers from SIM to Phone and vise versa?

To add your SIM contacts to your BlackBerry Address Book.

  1. Press the Menu key
  2. Highlight Contacts and select (press the trackpad)
  3. Press the Menu key
  4. Highlight SIM Phone Book and select (press the trackpad)
  5. Press the Menu key.
  6. Highlight Copy All to Contacts and select (press the trackpad).


To add your BlackBerry Address Book contacts to your SIM.

  1. Press the Menu key
  2. Highlight Contacts and select (press the trackpad)
  3. Highlight the contact you wish to move and press the trackpad
  4. Highlight the number and then press the trackpad
  5. Press the Menu key
  6. Highlight Copy to SIM Phone Book and press the trackpad
  7. Press the trackpad and highlight save and press the trackball again.


 

Contacts - How do I import my Contacts from my email accounts to my BlackBerry Handheld Address Book.

You can import Contacts from your email accounts to your BlackBerry Address Book if you have Microsoft Outlook® 2000 or later. In addition, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) needs to provide synchronisation software or the ability to create export files. Contact your service provider to find out which option(s) are available.

To export Contacts from your ISP email account to your BlackBerry device,

  1. Log into your ISP email account
  2. Create an Export .CSV file (for Outlook) of your Contacts
  3. Save this .CSV file to your desktop.
  4. Next you will need to Import this .CSV file into your Contacts folder in Outlook
  5. On the File menu, click Import and Export
  6. Select Import from another programme or file
  7. Select Comma Separated Value (Windows)
  8. Browse to the .CSV file you created from your ISP contacts
  9. Select Contacts as your destination folder
  10. Click Finish and this will import the contacts on your .CSV file into your Contacts Folder


These contacts will now appear in your BlackBerry handheld Address Book.


 

Email accounts - How do I add, change or delete my own email accounts?

You can do this in two ways, either from the device set up wizard or online. The quickest and easiest way is via the device set up wizard.

Add change, or delete your email account from the device,

  1. Click Setup
  2. Click on the Email Settings icon
  3. You may need to scroll down and enter your BlackBerry User Name and Password
  4. Click on Email Accounts hyperlink
  5. You should now click on,
  1. Edit to change the email account settings
  2. Delete to delete the email account
  3. Add An Email Account to add another email account

Add change, or delete your email account Online.

Log on to www.o2email.co.uk and enter your username and password. Under the Services heading select Email Accounts. From here you will have the ability to add, change or delete your personal email accounts.

If you are an Apple Macintosh user, you can view your BlackBerry account on line in this way but you may have trouble using some of the features of the website as the Apple Macintosh platform is not supported. It is therefore recommended that Apple Macintosh users manage their BlackBerry Account through the BlackBerry Handheld device.




 

Email - How do I change my Reply To address?

If you set a Reply To email address, replies to email messages are sent to a different email address than the one you used to send the message. For example, if you send a message from userID@o2email.co.uk you can set the reply to go to mfox@mycompany.com.

To set a Reply To email address for your email accounts,

  1. Login to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site at www.o2email.co.uk and click Edit on the email address you want to change
  2. In the Email field type the email address you wish replies to go to
  3. Click Save


To set a Reply To address for your BlackBerry email address (UserID@o2email.co.uk),

  1. Login to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site at www.o2email.co.uk and click Edit on your BlackBerry email address
  2. In the Reply To field type the email address you wish replies to go to

Email - How do I create Groups (distribution lists)?

To help you manage the distribution of emails to your colleagues and friends you can create groups of users from your BlackBerry Address Book,

  1. Select the Address Book option on your BlackBerry device
  2. Click the trackpad and select New Group
  3. Type in a name for your group
  4. Click the trackpad and select Add Member
  5. Select a contact, click the trackpad and select Continue
  6. Repeat this process until you have added all group members
  7. Click the trackpad and select Save Group


The group will now be saved in your Address Book.



 

Email - How do I filter out unwanted email messages?

You can create filters to specify which incoming email messages are forwarded from your email account(s) to your BlackBerry device.

Filters are applied to incoming messages in the order in which they appear in your filters list.

Note: If you have added more than one email account, email filters that you create for one email address are not applied to another email address,

  1. Login to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site at www.o2email.co.uk
  2. Click Filter on the email address you want to change
  3. Choose the option to Add or Edit filters
  4. In the Filter name field type a Filter Name
  5. Specify the rules for this filter, providing the origin domains of email that you do not want to receive on your handheld.
  6. Select the following options,

  1. Forward messages to handheld
  2. Header only
  3. Level 1 notification
  4. Do not forward messages to handheld

  1. Click Add Filter


 

Hard Reset - How do I hard rest the device?

Before completing a hard reset, back up anything you have stored on the handset, this includes contacts,

  1. Press the Menu key
  2. Highlight Options and select (press the trackpad) 
  3. Highlight Security Options and select (press the trackpad) 
  4. Highlight Security Wipe and select (press the trackpad) 
  5. Hightlight the sections you wish to wipe and press the trackpad in tick/untick the boxes
  6. Highlight the text box and enter the word blackberry
  7. Highlight Wipe and select (press the trackpad) 


 

Images - How do I improve the picture quality from my phones camera?

Some general tips to help take better pictures are,

  1. The steadier your phone is when taking the picture the better the shot is likely to be, so where possible, rest yourself or the camera on or against something that won’t move.
  2. Take care not to move the phone too soon after you believe the picture has been taken, as there can be a delay between when you press the button and when the shot is taken.
  3. If your phone doesn’t have a built-in flash or light, add additional lighting where you can or outside in natural daylight where appropriate.

Please Note: The numbers of colours a phones screen can display can vary between 16 thousand to 16 million. So you won't see how good or bad your pictures are until you have transferred them to a PC.


 

Memory - How can I store more ring tones, music and/or pictures?

If you find that you’ve used up the memory in the phone then you can add more memory by purchasing a memory card.  Memory cards vary in shape and memory size so please check the phone’s user guide before purchasing one.  There may be limits to the amount of memory you can add and you’ll need to make sure you order the right type.

To change your login password for your BlackBerry Internet account,

  1. Login to the BlackBerry Internet Service web site at www.o2email.co.uk
  2. Click Password under the Settings menu

Synchronise - How do I synchronise my address book, tasks, memos and calendar with my Microsoft Outlook account?

Your BlackBerry Internet Service enables you to synchronise your BlackBerry address book, tasks, memos and calendar with Microsoft Outlook 2000 or later. To allow you to do this you will need to install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager that came on a CD with your BlackBerry device.

To load Desktop Manager you should run the BlackBerry Desktop Manager CD and an Install Wizard will then take you through the installation process. Please ensure that during the install process you choose the option to load the BlackBerry Internet Service Desktop Manager and not the option for BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Desktop Redirector.

To find more information about the features of BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Help then Desktop Help Contents from within the desktop software.

You can then synchronise personal information management (PIM) items such as tasks, memos, contacts and calendar entries so the entries on your device and in your Microsoft Outlook are identical. To do this,

  1. Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable provided with your handset
  2. Open the Desktop Manager.
  3. Double-click the Intellisync icon.
  4. In the Synchronise now section, select the Synchronisation PIM check box.
  5. Click Synchronise now.

Wi-Fi - How does my phone show me I have a Wi-Fi connection?

When Wi-Fi is active, a Wi-Fi icon will appear directly under the signal strength symbol in the top right corner of the screen. The name of the connected Wi-FI network will also show to the right of O2 UK on the top of the screen.


 

Wi-Fi - How do I find the MAC address on my phone?

  1. Press the 'Menu' button
  2. Scroll to 'Manage Connections' and select
  3. Scroll to 'Wifi Options' and select
  4. Scroll to the name of the Wifi network (eg Cloud or BT Openzone) and select

Carrier Billing - How do I change the payment method on App World?

From the Handset

• Open App World
• Go to My Account
• Go to Payment Options
• Confirm App World Password
• Press OK
• Tick chosen option
• Click Next
• Complete details
• Click Agree

From a PC or Mac,

• visit appworld.blackberry.com/webstore
• Click the Sign In link in the upper right area of the website
• Enter in your BlackBerry ID username and password, then click Login
• This will then return to the App World Featured Items carousel. In the upper right area of the website, click My Payment Options
• Select the method of payment to change to, then click Next
• Depending on the method of payment you selected, fill in the required information to proceed
• A prompt will be presented to confirm the change of payment options
